January - where have you gone?

I can't believe how fast time is flying. Liz is 21 weeks today.  So hard to believe.  A few weeks ago I had my first business trip since baby.  Andrew, Liz and Jack home alone.  I knew it was going to have to happen, but it didn't make it any easier.  I took a video of Liz on my phone so I could watch and listen to her babbling.  I called home so I could talk to her before she went to bed.  This was Andrew's first experience waking her up and putting her to bed.  Getting her up is easy.  He had a rough time getting her to bed.  She was screaming for Mommy a long while before she would give up and fall asleep.  He is going to put her to bed at least once a week to make it easier when I travel.  I will be traveling in February and March.
She loves standing up and looking around.  She can almost sit by herself and is working on rolling over.  No rolling yet, but getting close.  She giggles and smiles more frequently and it melts your heart.

Some misc pictures for your enjoyment.

Lizzie's First Christmas

Lizzie had such fun on her first Christmas.  Grandma and Grandpa D drove up from TN to spend Christmas with us.  We got up early to open presents.  Liz's sat in my lap and I opened up her presents with a little help from her.  Her favorite was red tissue paper.  She received many great gifts and thanks everyone for their thoughtfulness including Santa.  After gifts we cooked french toast.  While I was cooking, Grandma and Grandpa M called from French Harbor.  We enjoyed chatting with them and hearing how they were going to celebrate Christmas.  We attended the afternoon Christmas mass which Liz napped through.  It was a great first Christmas with Liz and hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did.

Breakfast with Santa

Daycare hosted Breakfast with Santa this weekend.  We dressed Liz in her Christmas outfit and went to meet Santa.  As you can tell from the photo, Liz was very excited.

Liz meets Santa
After meeting Santa, we headed to the mall to finish Christmas shopping.  We decided on Chick-fil-a for lunch.  I mentioned to Andrew on our way in to the restaurant "wouldn't it be great if there was a cow dressed up as Santa."  We opened the door and what do we see - A cow dressed as Santa!  Again, Liz was beaming with excitement.

Much to our dismay, our little Lizzie is a thumb sucker.  Yeah - she can self sooth.  We are not looking forward to breaking the habit.

caught in the act - sucking her thumb
Every morning, I lay Liz down under her Jungle Gym.  She smiles and coos.  After a few minutes she is sucking her thumb half asleep and moving the toys just enough to play music.  It is very cute.  This video is my attempt to catch it in the act.  And my first attempt to post a video.  Hope it works.  **I will work on it when I get home.  It was working last night.

First Day of Daycare

The sad day has finally arrived - Time to go back to work.  It was a dark and rainy day...

Looking cute and ready to start the day

Lizzie's First Thanksgiving

Liz started her first holiday season by picking out the turkey for Thanksgiving dinner.

For Dad's birthday, she helped me bake pumpkin bread.

Yummm.  Thanksgiving dinner.

The day after Thanksgiving walk.  This year we walked the Loveland Bike Trail.

2 Months Old

It is hard to believe but Lizzie is already two months old.  She is 22.5 inches long and weighs 13 lbs 7 oz.  She makes the cutiest baby sounds - goos, gaas, oohs, and awes - and has a grin that melts my heart.  She is interacting with Andrew and I and likes her swing now.  Liz still sleeps through the night which is good for me.  I will be going back to work on Tuesday November 22 for a half day, a full day on Wednesday, off Thursday and Friday then full-time the next week.  It will be hard not being with Lizzie and I am not looking forward to it.  I know my co-workers can't wait for my return and are counting the days until I return, wish I could say the same.

Here are a few photos of our baby.
